Blocking software usage with GFI MAX

Some software is bad news. Nothing good can come of it, and neither you nor your customers want it on their systems. I'm sure you knew you could use Asset Tracking and software license groups to detect unauthorized installations of banned software - but did you know that you could prevent them from ever being used in the first place?

The secret to this method is in using the available Managed Antivirus integration:

  1. Access the protection policy settings

  2. Choose and edit the Protection Policy in question

  3. Navigate to Exceptions and choose "always block"

As you can see, you have several block options to choose what makes the most sense for the software in question. Once configured, the system will automatically keep the software in question from running without any intervention ever being required on your part.
