Software Inventory - the report of your dreams!!!

Software Inventory - the report of your dreams!!!Written by Robert Meehan

What the heck is in here?
How often do your clients ask for a list of the software applications which is running on their workstations?

The goal of this article is to show you a process to collect this information through an Automated Task and deliver it in a report for client consumption.

There are a few things that you need to put into place prior to getting a report for the client.

They are:
1. A script which will be utilized by an Automated Task,
2. An Automated Task deployed to a client/site/device,
3. Run a report for the Software Inventory task for use in an Excel like program.

Would you believe...

Written by David Ianetta

One of my favorite shows growing up was "Get Smart" with Don Adams. That show was famous for reoccurring gag lines like, "Missed it by that much!" and my favorite, "would you believe..."

When ever Maxwell Smart was telling a cover story and could see by the look on someone's face they were not "buying what he was selling" he would keep diminishing the fabricated story until he eventually gave up.

Get on board with Automation!

By David Ianetta

Miyamoto Musashi once said, "From one thing, know ten thousand things."

The Samurai were amazing individuals! Besides being the only men (in my opinion) to be able to pull of the "man bun", they had made a lifestyle out of  not wasting time, especially when it came to movement.

Efficiency was a way of life.

That brings us to our latest topic, Automation.

I am always amazed when I do a Tech Walk for a customer to find out just how many of you have not taken advantage of this powerful tool.

Our day is full of "clicks" and waiting between them. I used to wonder how much time I have actually lost simply trying to get to a task, or waiting for a task to complete.

I'm sure there are many of you nodding your heads in agreement. And if you are nodding with a man bun...I'm sure it looks good on you though!

Time well spent now, setting up automated tasks in your Remote Management Dashboard can save you hours down the line. Not to mention, an automated tasked, implemented correctly, can remove the human error factor.

With Remote Management we have, what I like to call, three levels of scripting choices.

Keep up with your Dashboard Skillset, request a Tech Walk!

by David Ianetta

Once upon a time we could count on twelve years of school followed by some college and then happily say goodbye to books and study.

Sure, we might want to improve a skill here or there, but once you landed a good job the rest of your education was combined with experience.

As Aerosmith sang, "Dream On...Dream On..."

Those of us who work in the IT field we know that time has long past. We constantly need to improve our skill set, or get left behind.
