End User Guide for MSP Mail

In MSP Mail we do have a lot of helpful documentation but one request I see a lot of is to have a guide for the end user portal.  Something short and concise that users can refer to if they are unsure how to navigate and take advantage of the different features.  As I have had this quite a few times I created a guide that you can send to your end users.  This covers everything in the user portal so feel free to direct customers to it or use it to create your own internal documentation.

Dealing with LDAP in MAX Mail

Supporting all product for LogicNow one of the areas that people tend to find challenging is setting up LDAP for MAX Mail.  As a result I wanted to write an article to help guide people through the various setup options and troubleshooting LDAP.

LDAP is a great way to auto manage your users in MAX Mail with minimal input required from an admin perspective.  If you have only one domain and intend to sync all users in that domain the process is not overly complicated but as part of this article we will look at the following

  1. Simple LDAP Synchronisation with one domain looking at all users
  2. Using LDAP to retrieve alias email addresses
  3. Using LDAP to retrieve sibling email address
  4. Targeting specific users only in your domain controller
  5. Troubleshooting LDAP

So let’s run through each of these topics and hopefully provide a bit of insight into how LDAP works with MAX Mail

Master Class: Outage Preparedness in Max MailProtection

MailProtection is generally thought of as a filtering tool, but it can be invaluable to protect continued mailflow when used properly. The Mail Continuity feature of GFI Max MailProtection offers you a layer of insulation in the event of an internet outage, server crash or planned server migration.

Taking a few minutes now to understand how mail continuity works and learning the best steps to take before, during and after a disruption will help ensure the least amount of inconvenience during these situations.

Jumping elsewhere from your Dashboard

Have you ever been in your dashboard and needed to get information from another website? Were you aware that you can add external links into you dashboard? You can add links to other websites and even save your log in credentials to the other sites in your GFI MAX Dashboard.  The External Links button gives you quick access to all of the websites you  have created links to.

Quick Tip: Easy SPF for Max MailProtection

While MailProtection provides quality IP reputation and filtering for your customers' outbound mail, managing the SPF records for those domains can be a bit tricky due to the number and occasional change of IP pools used. Nobody wants to go back and edit every domain's SPF records whenever the MailProtection IP pool changes or risk rejected mail for improperly entering a subnet.

I've done some digging, and you can use the following SPF entry for true "set it and forget it" SPF protection:
