Move it on ... over.

Following on the previous post: Move it on up!

The second phase of template improvements has been implemented.  So this replaces part of the previous article while making the job easier.

Move it on up! Migration to more

OK, last year you successfully moved that stubborn break-fix client one step toward a managed contract.  At that time they had a contract with an old version of  SomeUnTech End-your-Point anti-virus.  The contract was expired and the new version was such a resource hog it couldn’t even be installed on some of their machines. All they want is anti-virus, so that made a "MAV-Only" deployment of your MAXfocus Managed Anti-Virus a perfect fit.

A year later and it’s time to revisit their agreement. It's a perfect time to move them up a notch in managed services.  So you walk in armed with an Asset Tracking report and a new contract that provides them the added security of MAXfocus Patch Management and the convenience of Remote Desktop technical support all for a fraction of the cost of on-site support, but raises their monthly cost by less than 50%.  In turn, it doubles your margin.

What do you know, they’re ALL IN!  And now the fun begins.

… wait, what’s my password?

Yes, Passwords suck.  Two-factor authentication really helps, but we’re still using passwords for everything.  And now they have to be complex: 8-characters, mixed case, alphanumeric… pretty soon it will require Cyrillic characters and a blood test.  But what happens when one of your Super Users or Administrators forget?

We gotcha covered…

OH NO! A REBOOT! ... Never fear - SysTray's here

Rebooting a computer automatically or without interacting with the desktop is quite important to the regular maintenance or health and well-being provided by Managed Service Providers.  In GFIMAX RemoteManagement this can be accomplished several ways, both automatic and "immediate" from the dashboard.

But what happens when this scares the pants off the end user???

Change the settings for Automatic Updates

Microsoft did a wonderful service for "regular people" to get their operating system updated with very little fuss.  The original Windows Update web site, with a shortcut icon on the Start menu was great.  Over the years it grew ...

Performance REPORTING

Well, we here at ATM.com like to think that we came up with some rather clever ways to calm some of the spurtive alerts that originate from servers in your dashboard.  Well, the Development team did us one better!

(T3) Template/Deployment Scenarios

Deploying agents to clients can be as varied as the clients themselves.  You may not need to monitor the computers at your bakery client the same way as you do at that law office.  GFIMAX currently addresses it a couple of different ways depending on the deployment scenario you're talking about.

Saving time & headaches by saving Bandwidth

The MAX agent is deployed independently, and lives its life very happily that way: no matter where it is (on the Internet), it goes on its merry way sending information to your dashboard so you can always know about and maintain its health & well-being.  With the features enabled, these machines will get all updates wherever they are.

But what about when I have several machines connected to a single Internet connection?  (Well, we're supporting businesses, so that's most all of the clients isn't it?)

(T3): Just One SNMP example

Did you know that you could monitor that APC with MAX?  Did you know that one of "your own" wrote a way to do it even if you have the Personal Edition of the software?  No?  Really ...

(T3): Managing your Patch Management

Deploying patches successfully and efficiently across multiple clients can quickly turn from a simple maintenance task to a huge time-suck if you don't have a plan, flexibility, or the  right tools.

(T3): Patch Management & Dashboard v5.21

Yes, y'all - it's finally upon us!  Dashboard v5.21!  Here's some cool stuff you can do with the new dashboard and the new Release Candidate Agent (v8.10.1).  In essence, now patches from both Microsoft and all of our supported vendors can be approved and installed, including reboots, without user intervention if desired.

If you'd like, you can read the release notes on the forums:

(T3): MAV-Only Deployment

MAV can be deployed to computers that you don’t do any type of monitoring on.  By deploying in this manner, the only charge incurred for this installation is the MAV cost.

(T3): Deploying Managed Anti-Virus

Deploying Managed Anti-Virus

Updated by David Ianetta

MSP RMM’s Managed Antivirus feature allows Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to make an antivirus security solution available to clients without an annual renewal contract. All management of the application, from deployment to threat remediation, is completed within the MSP RMM dashboard console.
